Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know for before, during, and after your wax!
Is your location accessible for everyone?
I am committed to creating a space that is comfortable and accessible for everyone. I’m constantly looking to make adjustments where I can, and I’m always open to suggestions! Please visit the Accessibility Page to learn more!
How is the parking situation?
There is a small parking lot behind the building, with a driveway directly to the right of Anatomy Tattoo. However, it does tend to fill up quick, and it is a difficult lot to get in and out of.
I’d recommend street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. There is always free street parking around the block.
Please give yourself a few extra minutes to find parking.
if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
If you are unable to make it to your appointment, please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours prior to your appointment start time. You are able to do this through your confirmation text or email.
I do understand that life happens, so if there are any last minute changes to your appointment I just ask that you pretty please let me know as soon as possible so I can adjust my schedule accordingly and open up that spot to another guest. I promise I won't be mad at you (so rest that anxiety ridden little mind of yours).
Can I bring my friend/partner/child to the appointment?
You’re welcome to bring anyone with you to the salon, but for safety and comfort reasons I ask that anyone who is not being waxed stay in the waiting room during your appointment.
As a single mom, I totally understand that sometimes things come up and you’re stuck without childcare. I am happy to reschedule your appointment without a fee if you can’t sneak away from your kiddo(s). While I love kids, there are a lot of hot/sharp/expensive things in my treatment room that can hurt them or others. There is not an option to have them wait outside, as the waiting area is in a tattoo shop.
How long should my hair be? Should I trim it before?
For best results, your hair should be at least a quarter inch, or the length of a grain of jasmine rice. This assures that the wax is able to grip to all of the hair. Please do not trim your hair. It is possible for you to trim it too short. If it does need trimming, I can do it at the appointment.
Can I still get waxed if I’m on my period?
This is totally based on your comfort level, but YES, you can still come in while you’re on your period. I just ask that you put in a fresh tampon or cup right before the appointment. I will let you know that the skin tends to be more sensitive from about 3 days prior to 3 days after your period, so you may want to schedule accordingly.
What type of wax do you use?
All of my waxing is done using an azulene infused soft (strip) wax. Azulene wax is formulated to help calm and soothe the skin throughout the entire waxing process. Azulene wax contains anti bacterial and anti inflammatory properties. It’s great for all skin types, and I absolutely adore this wax.
“But I’ve been told that hard wax is way better!” There is no such thing as one type of wax being better than the other, it is all about personal preference, technique, and the waxer who is performing the wax. I have only ever used soft wax, and I can promise you that I have heard from more than clients than not how relatively painless my waxes are. I’d love to have the opportunity to show you that soft wax isn’t all that bad!
How should I prep for my appointment?
First of all, take a deep breath. Don’t let your nerves get the best of you! I promise you’re gonna do great.
To prep for your appointment, make sure that you are keeping the area moisturized, and exfoliate about 24 hours before. Try to refrain from drinking caffeine on the day of your appointment, as it can make you a little more sensitive to the pain. You can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) 30 minutes before your appointment, but avoid taking ibuprofen or aspirin, as these may thin the blood and make you more prone to pinpoint bleeding during the service.
What is aftercare like?
The main point I tell people to remember is that every hair that comes out is like a tiny little open wound for the next 24-48 hours, so treat it as such. Keep the area clean and dry.
